Fery’s Journal is a personal blog written by Fery Setiawan in Bali, Indonesia. This page explains what information the site collects and why.

The newsletter

If you subscribe, your email address is stored with Mailchimp (Intuit), which sends the monthly letter. After you sign up, Mailchimp sends you an email to confirm your subscription, and you’re only added once you confirm. I use your address only to send that letter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to delete your address at any time.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics and Google Search Console, through the Site Kit plugin, to understand which stories people read and how they find them. Google may set cookies for this. The data is aggregated; I don’t use it to identify you.

Comments

If you leave a comment, WordPress stores your name, email address, the comment and your IP address. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet (Automattic). Your email address is never shown publicly.

Embedded content

Some posts include videos or maps from other websites (for example YouTube or Google Maps). These behave as if you visited that website directly, and may collect data about you.

How long data is kept

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Comments are kept until they’re removed. Analytics data follows Google’s retention settings.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter, block cookies in your browser, or ask me to delete any information I hold about you by writing to ferysjournal@gmail.com.
