In the Search for Tranquility to East Bali

I’ve been feeling really tired lately. This might be one of the signs I need to refresh my mind from my hectic life and schedule.

Last week, I booked a room at a Khrisna Sunrise Homestay, a homestay in Tulamben, Karangasem, East Bali. It was a spontaneous trip, and I wanted to take one of my friends with me. But unfortunately, most of my friends were also busy with their stuff, so I went on this trip alone. It’s been a while since I’ve made a solo trip, and it was an enjoyable and relaxing trip for me.

Tulamben is quite far from my house, as I live in Sanur. It took me about 2 hours to get there, and the weather seemed to have a bad day as it was drizzling when I arrived in Karangasem. I had to make some stops so I won’t feel tired, and of course, I snapped some pictures of the beautiful view along the way!

After the long ride, I finally reached my destination. I was mesmerized by the beautiful view that greeted me, especially Mount Agung!

When I arrived at Khrisna Sunrise Homestay, I was welcomed by the owner, Bapak Oka. He was charming and kind. I feel like I’m talking to my father. We talked for some time, and he took me for a house tour while explaining the surroundings and the facilities. The accommodation is a Balinese-style home with beautiful surroundings. The air felt fresh. It made me feel like I was in a wonderland.

The room was pretty spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, and it had a cold and hot shower! No TV inside the room, but I’m lovely with that. Wi-Fi is fully available for guests, so you won’t be bored to death even though they don’t have a TV inside the room. But, if you book a family room instead, they have a living room with an old-style TV.

I took a nap for a bit and woke up at 05:00 PM. I took a quick shower and got dressed. I went outside my room, took my motorbike, and went strolling around Amed, 20 minutes away from Tulamben, to enjoy an extensive beer and the magical sunset. Unfortunately, it was so cloudy that I couldn’t see the evening, but the color of the sky was gorgeous, and it made me feel calm and comfortable. I was zoned out while drinking my beer and listening to Avril Lavigne and Macy Gray’s songs with this fantastic view.

The sun was setting, and it was getting dark, so I decided to have dinner at JFC Culik and ordered a set of fried chicken with rice and an iced tea. To be honest, this tasted better compared to any JFC in Denpasar. The chicken was tender and crispy; it was so delicious! I quickly finished my meal as it started to rain (again), and finally, I reached the accommodation.

Earlier, Pak Oka told me there would be a family of four who wanted to check into the accommodation, but none of them seemed to arrive yet. I entered my room and took a hot shower. Believe me, it felt amazing after chilling out, lol! I went to bed early because I’d like to see the sunrise and explore the area the next day.

As expected, it was cloudy again in the morning, and I couldn’t see the sunrise. But it was okay because I still could feel the fresh air and tranquility, thanks to the fantastic surroundings! I climbed a small hill (is this the right way to say it?) and took pictures of the area. The vast meadow around me was green due to the rainy season. If it were from June to October, the field would turn yellow or brownish.

The weather was quite pleasant that day, and I decided to go to the rooftop to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I was walking on the stairs, and I discovered this cute snail!

I sat on the chair and enjoyed the fresh air and the morning sounds while waiting for my coffee. It didn’t take so long for me to stay as Pak Oka approached me with my coffee and my breakfast. He made toast served with butter, strawberry jam, and scrambled eggs. It tasted nice and felt like home. We also talked about our daily life; believe me, Pak Oka is a great person when you’re in the mood for any conversation.

A delicious breakfast, hot coffee, mesmerizing scenery, and warm conversation, all in one place. I don’t want to go home. Pak Oka cleared the table and went downstairs, leaving me alone, enjoying the surroundings. I always liked this kind of place, quiet and far from the crowdedness and hectic schedule. I’m thinking about living in a place like this when I’m older. 😄

As the sun rose, I went back to my room to take a relaxing shower as I felt the sun’s heat. I plan to check out at 11:00, so I can prepare everything for my internship the next day. Oh, I forgot that I’m currently interning at Green School Bali. I will tell you more about my internship experience next time!

My body felt fresh after the shower. I sat on the gazebo to daydream, enjoying my almost-ending holiday while listening to my favorite music.

I forgot how long I’ve been zoning out. Pak Oka was calling for me, and he brought me a Balinese-style nasi campur. He told me that one of his relatives opened a warung and sold nasi campur daily. The portion was quite significant for me, but it tasted nice. I finished my food and said thank you to Pak Oka because he was charming. I wish I had a father like him. 😂

It was already 11:00 AM, so I returned to my room to pack my belongings and check around to ensure nothing was left behind. After I was sure I was set, I left my room and once again expressed my gratitude to Pak Oka for his hospitality. I will come back here for my next trip and recommend Khrisna Sunrise Homestay for you to stay. If you love nature, tranquility, and a peaceful place, this place is your best option.

That’s my story for this post. I’m looking forward to sharing more exciting trips with you guys! Thanks for reading my blog, and see you again!
