The moment you enter the cafe, you’re greeted by a whole lot of furry friends who are ready to give you their famous, soft purrs. Around you, the space is decorated like a playful, colorful kindergarten, but for cats! You’ll see climbing towers and fun play spaces everywhere. It truly feels like you’ve been invited to their special cat school!
Interacting with the cats here is the best part because each one has its own amazing personality. Most of them are super playful, while some are adorable sleepyheads (still okay to admire, though!). Just a quick tip: make sure to check with the kind staff if any specific cat needs space because they’re sensitive. The entire place is clean, too. The owner and staff do an amazing job keeping the cafe nice, tidy, and smelling great. They have more than enough dedicated space for both the food/water and the play areas, so everything stays organized and perfectly mess-free.
The Heart Behind the Mission
This is the most heartwarming part: Cat Cafe Sanur, which opened its doors in August 2019, is truly dedicated to helping local rescue and street cats. There are, unfortunately, so many abandoned cats in Bali, and the cafe’s main goal is to improve their lives.
They focus on getting the cats sterilized, giving them necessary health check-ups, providing medicine, and ensuring they are vaccinated. Once the cats are healed and used to people, the team tries to find them their forever homes through adoption!
This means that by simply visiting this cafe, buying stuff, and spending time here, you are actively helping to improve the lives of all the rescued cats. They currently have over 50 cats in their care! If you want to contribute more, you can always visit or even donate directly to their cause. 100% of all help goes straight to the cats.
Quick Tip: Come have a playful time with the cats! The age limit is 6 years, and the entrance fee is IDR 50.000/person, including 1 soft drink, or IDR 60.000 with a Bintang beer. The best part? You can stay and cuddle as long as you want!

Right now, the menu selections are still limited. They currently provide soft drinks and beers you can buy at the reception (sadly, they aren’t serving coffee at the moment, but let’s hope it comes back soon!).

- Be Gentle and Quiet: Speak softly and avoid loud noises. If you’re traveling with children, remember that parents are responsible for supervising them—let’s keep the stress levels low for the cats!
- Let Them Come to You: Do not pick up the cats or disturb them while they are sleeping or eating. Always respect their space!
Health & Safety:
- Sanitize is Key: Hand sanitizer is provided and should be used upon arrival and both before and after interacting with the cats.
- Protect the Diet: Do not feed the cats any human food or treats, as they have individual, vet-recommended diets.
- Keep Your Food Safe: Use the provided food covers at all times to protect your snacks from curious, grabbing paws!
